The World's Method for Cornet and Saxhorn

Boston: Jean White. 1881. Method for the cornet and saxhorn, from the collection of Jack Bradley, personal photographer and close friend of Louis Armstrong. While we can't know if this method was used by Satchmo himself, the association is compelling. Volume shows signs of wear, with a few pencil markings on the first few pages of exercises. Shaken but tight binding; loose hinges; page discoloration and foxing; edge wear; bowing. 10 x 13 inches (25 x 32.5 cm). This edition is uncommon, with Worldcat listing no examples.

Binding worn, front board and endpage starting to separate but still relatively solid, brass remnants on board edges, apparently lacking original clasps, early ownernship markings ("Joh. Jakob Widler...Wiedikon / 1781") and remnants of wax seals to inner boards and endpages. Overall a fine copy of this important work by the Swiss composer and music pedagogue. Read More...

Beethoven's Quartetten No. 7–12.", followed by name of partbook in Italian. 12.5 x 10 inches (31.7 x 25.5 cm). Signature, "Diettrich," to verso of front endpaper of all partbooks except Violino Primo. Numbering, opus numbers and some dedications added in black ink to headers of first pages of quartets; metronome marks and other annotations throughout in red or purple ink; rehearsal letters and other annotations throughout in blue crayon; occasional corrections in lead pencil.
